The newest of the boarding houses is Erica House, where girls from Grade 6 to 10 reside in two separate wings for seniors and juniors. The bedrooms are spacious and airy. Erica has the largest communal area of all the houses where the girls come together to socialise and connect. There is a comfortable sitting room with fireplace and television; space at tables for group work; a kitchen in which to make snacks or hot drinks in winter and a pool table and other games. On the patio outside, girls can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine in both winter and summer. Just imagine your daughter living and learning in these beautiful, spacious surroundings.
Huguenot House or “Hug” House as it is called, is for Grades 6 to 10 boys with two separate wings for seniors and juniors. The rooms are spacious and each boy has a cupboard, desk and bed area to make his own. The attractive upstairs rooms have skylights. Boarders bring their own bedding and can make their own space comfortable and familiar. In their free time boarders are able to use all the school facilities such as the pool (with adult supervision), the sports gym, the AstroTurf and the fields. They can often be seen playing pick-up games of soccer or hockey in the evenings. Just imagine your son having both a structured programme for study and homework sessions as well as free time in these spacious, healthy surroundings.
Waterfall House for Senior Girls was the first boarding house built at the school. Like the other houses it has two wings and flatlets for Academic staff who live at the boarding houses and supervise all the activities including homework sessions. A comfortable, communal area has a fireplace and television for cozy winter gatherings. The girls often gather in the kitchen to make snacks or hot drinks before retiring for bed. There are plenty of showers and toilets and each girl gets to share her bathroom facility with one or two others. Just imagine your daughter making lifelong friendships with boarders from all over the world in our modern boarding houses.
Bellegam House for senior boys is situated at the edge of the main sports fields and close to the pool and the sports gymnasium. The boys make full use of these facilities in their spare time. Their communal area has a pool table and limited gym equipment which is popular with the boys. Boys who enjoy their sporting commitments waste no time travelling distances back and forward to their homes and can choose to stay in for weekends. Structured homework sessions are supervised by academic staff. Just imagine the flexibility of weekly or termly boarding for boys who have busy lives at school.
Please consult the Fee Schedule which can be downloaded below for the tuition fees and boarding fees. The tuition fee should be added to the boarding fee to get the total cost.
These fees entitle the pupil to full use of the facilities, meals and services of the boarding house during school terms. No rebate will be given in the event of the pupil not making full use of the above.
GENERAL
Other sundry charges (such as telephone calls, laundry and outings) will be charged in addition and will be added to the school accounts.
Bridge House provides the ideal, caring environment for its boarders enabling them to experience the school’s academic, cultural and sports programme to its fullest.
Just imagine … memories to last forever and friendships made for life within the structure of the academic programme.
Our boarders are regarded as full time termly boarders but can choose to go home for weekends if they live close enough to do so. We have everything they require to make sure they are entertained, engaged and feel at home during the week and at weekends.
Boarders who live too far away to travel home may go out for weekends with friends but they are required to notify duty staff by Wednesday. A written invitation from the host parent must have been received and written permission must have been granted by the boarder’s parent.
Arrangements can be made to transport boarders to and from Cape Town International Airport. For those boarders going home to Cape Town, there is a shuttle service on Friday afternoons and back to school on Sunday evenings. There is one boarders’ out weekend per term but International boarders are able to stay in if necessary. The boarding houses are closed during the holidays.
All boarders going out for the weekend must leave by 4.00pm on Friday (unless by prior arrangement) and return between 5.00 pm and 8.00 pm on Sunday. Dinner is served at 6.15pm.
Our meals are provided by Feedem and approved by a registered dietician. Various dietary requirements are catered for. The meals are served in two modern dining rooms on the campus close to the boarding houses. The meals are in line with our ethos at Bridge House to encourage healthy living. Feedem reserves the right to change the menus if necessary, depending on what fresh produce is available.

The boarding staff are supported by the school nurse who takes care of various ailments in our Healthcare Centre. The nurse cares for both day students who are not feeling well and need to lie down until they can be collected by their parents and also for our boarders who are ill.
The Healthcare Centre has two separate two-bed wards for boarders who may need to be isolated, a procedure room where the nurse can administer first aid and a small flatlet for a resident staff member to stay overnight. A local physiotherapist comes to the school to treat students with sports or other injuries, in a separate room in the Healthcare Centre.
