Just imagine a school that has world-class facilities, incredible coaches, many team sports, and in its short history has had numerous provincial representation, whilst maintaining the holistic approach to schooling where no facet of the schooling career is more important than the other.
The school sports policy seeks to promote healthy lifestyle options through participation in a varied and well-run sports programme. Even our Pre-Schoolers participate in ball skills and gymnastic activities during their school day, and Physical Education lessons are included within the school day for all Prep children.
At Bridge House we believe that sport plays an important role in the development of our children through both physical growth and development but also through social skill development where children have to learn to interact in stress environments (as in competition). Sport lends itself to fostering quick decision-making skills. We aim to prepare our children for future leadership positions whilst equipping them with skills at this early age. We offer a wide range of team and individual sports from which to choose.
In Grades 1 and 2 the sports programme revolves around the establishment of basic skills and the development of co-ordination and physical literacy. Their programme runs from Monday to Thursday for the last hour of their school day. All Grade 3s participate in Sport from Monday to Thursday until 15h00
From Grade 4 upwards, it is compulsory for a child to participate in at least one team sport in both winter and summer.
