PREPARATORY SPORTS

A Sporting Environment Where Every Child Can Thrive

Imagine a school with world-class sports facilities, exceptional coaches, and a wide range of team sports to choose from — all within a holistic educational environment that values balance across academics, arts, and sport. Despite our relatively short history, our students have already achieved significant provincial representation across various disciplines.

At Bridge House, our sports philosophy is built around promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. From our youngest Pre-Schoolers, who enjoy structured ball skills and gymnastics sessions, to our Prep students who participate in regular Physical Education classes, every child is encouraged to move, play, and grow through a dynamic and inclusive sports programme.

GENERAL INFORMATION

At Bridge House, we believe that sport plays a vital role in the holistic development of our children, not only in fostering physical growth and fitness but also in developing essential social and emotional skills. Through participation in sport, children learn to navigate teamwork, manage pressure, and make quick decisions—skills that are valuable both on and off the field.

Our sports programme is designed to build confidence, encourage resilience, and prepare students for future leadership roles. From an early age, we introduce a wide range of team and individual sports, giving every child the opportunity to discover and develop their interests and talents.

In Grades 1 and 2, the focus is on mastering the fundamentals. The programme emphasises basic movement skills, coordination, and physical literacy. These sessions take place from Monday to Thursday during the last hour of the school day.

In Grades 3 to 5, students continue with structured sport every afternoon from Monday to Thursday, with increasing emphasis on participation, sportsmanship, and developing team dynamics.

From Grade 6 onwards, it becomes compulsory for students to participate in at least one team sport in both the winter and summer seasons. This ensures consistent engagement, commitment, and the benefits of team involvement as students grow.

Sport at Bridge House is more than just a game—it’s a foundation for lifelong learning, health, and leadership.
