At the recent Midsummer Party, Ephraim Gordon and Claude Van Wyk, both of whom matriculated in 2005, “spoke passionately and movingly about the impact that being past recipients of Bridge House Bursaries had on their lives and revealed that as well as a brilliant education it had given them access to networks, connections, mentoring and so much more, all of which had changed the trajectory of their lives.” – Mary George (Chair Bursary Foundation)
Ephraim was awarded a full Bridge House Bursary in 2000 and joined our school as a Grade 8 pupil. He excelled in the Arts and having been elected Head Boy in his final year, pursued Theatre and Performance studies at UCT. He is now one of the most exciting young film producers, writers and actors in South Africa with an Oscar nomination in 2022 for his latest film. Fellow Bursary recipient, Claude Van Wyk, had an equally inspirational trajectory and is currently Deputy Director, International Relations, Western Cape Government. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Affairs from Stellenbosch University and previously worked as Senior Policy Advisor to the Kingdom of The Netherlands Consulate General.
It was heartwarming to see a number of other Bridge House alumni who were involved in the organisation of the fundraising event and those who came to show their support on the evening. Thank you to all our alumni who support Bursaries at Bridge House.
