BOARDING INFORMATION

GENERAL
DINING
HEALTHCARE CENTRE

Our boarders are regarded as full time termly boarders but can choose to go home for weekends if they live close enough to do so. We have everything they require to make sure they are entertained, engaged and feel at home during the week and at weekends.

Boarders who live too far away to travel home may go out for weekends with friends but they are required to notify duty staff by Wednesday. A written invitation from the host parent must have been received and written permission must have been granted by the boarder’s parent.

Arrangements can be made to transport boarders to and from Cape Town International Airport. For those boarders going home to Cape Town, there is a shuttle service on Friday afternoons and back to school on Sunday evenings. There is one boarders’ out weekend per term but International boarders are able to stay in if necessary. The boarding houses are closed during the holidays.

All boarders going out for the weekend must leave by 4.00pm on Friday (unless by prior arrangement) and return between 5.00 pm and 8.00 pm on Sunday. Dinner is served at 6.15pm.

Our meals are provided by Feedem and approved by a registered dietician. Various dietary requirements are catered for. The meals are served in two modern dining rooms on the campus close to the boarding houses. The meals are in line with our ethos at Bridge House to encourage healthy living. Feedem reserves the right to change the menus if necessary, depending on what fresh produce is available.

The boarding staff are supported by the school nurse who takes care of various ailments in our Healthcare Centre. The nurse cares for both day students who are not feeling well and need to lie down until they can be collected by their parents and also for our boarders who are ill.

The Healthcare Centre has two separate two-bed wards for boarders who may need to be isolated, a procedure room where the nurse can administer first aid and a small flatlet for a resident staff member to stay overnight. A local physiotherapist comes to the school to treat students with sports or other injuries, in a separate room in the Healthcare Centre.
