Art
Bridge House is justifiably proud of its Art Room and visitors to the school are always impressed by its spaciousness and creative energy.
Designed so that students can work both independently and under tutorage, it has two loft areas, two class areas, a dark room for black and white photography, a kiln housed in a separate building and an outside work area so that we can take advantage of good weather and amazing views. It also has a separate room to house two computers and a data projector so that Visual Studies lessons can be given with reference to the most recent available resources available on the internet.
Although the school is situated in rural surroundings, we are in constant contact with other schools and the Art teacher, Dave Fuller, like all other teachers at Bridge House, is in constant contact with colleagues at IEB schools both in the Western Cape and, through our annual IEB Conference, the rest of South Africa.
Our Art Teacher has marked Senior Certificate practical work in Gauteng and the Eastern Province and is currently co-writing a series of text books. The Black and White Photography teacher is a professional photographer who frequently exhibits her own work.
