Music
Entry Requirements: Grade 4 on the practical level from any of the accepted Music Schools e.g. Royal Schools of Music, Unisa. etc or strong recommendation from individual music teacher. Skills acquired: These are cumulative, especially on the practical level and have to be built upon year after year. The History of Music component uses similar skills to those acquired in English writing. There is also a large creative component in the form of composition. Matric Examination: Practical: 50% of the marks consisting of Grade 7 level; Written: 50% of the marks consisting of History of Music; final exam paper plus an assignment and composition; a harmony portfolio. Students are encouraged to write and / or play external examinations. Extra Costs: There is a charge for Practical lessons.
