Learning for Life Leadership Programme

Bridge House pupils assisted members of the SA ParaOlympic Team before their departure for Athens. The project was organised and co-ordinated by the children involved.

The Learning for Life Leadership Programme was developed at Bridge House and is now being used in some other independent schools in Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal. It is based on the President?s Award which is used in the College and promotes high levels of initiative. The most important aspect of this programme is the contribution of service both inside and out of the school. These projects must be organised by the children themselves which is demanding for a 13 year old child. The results have been stunning with many projects making a significant difference in the lives others.

Another component of the project is the organisational task which may culminate in children going on outdoor expeditions and experiences which they must organise and co-ordinate from start to finish. It allows children the space to make mistakes and learn from them.
